Five Minute Friday: Keep

This weeks word is: Keep.

GO

Being a parent is a many things. It can be exciting, scary, important, responsible, fun, and hard. When I found out I was going to be a parent I was young and scared. One of the best decisions I ever made was to KEEP my little girl. I grew up fast and I have never regretted it. There are lessons I learned growing up that I hope I can pass onto my kids. Growing up I learned to always KEEP friends and family close, KEEP on dreaming, Keep a good head on your shoulders, KEEP an open mind, and always KEEP pushing through any situation.

Five Minute Friday: Wait

Join us every Friday at http://katemotaung.com for the writing prompt and write for five minutes strait. No editing just writing from the heart.

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is wait.

GO

It amazes me how every word for the Five Minute Friday posts this year have fallen into my life perfectly. Waiting is one of the most frustrating traits for me. I am not a patient person. Lately it seems like everything I do or that is going on around me is requiring some sort of wait time. Sometimes it is as simple as waiting for my three year old to fall asleep at night. Other times it is as big as having to wait on life to go back to normal after a big event.

I watched a video recently that was about a mother with three kids that had her best friend coming through town. She had been waiting a long time to see her friend and she was so excited. Her friend only had a two hour layover so they were going to meet for dinner and catch up. This mother had a list of things that needed to be done that day and every time she started getting stuff done people would ask her to do things for them and she would do it. She was running late and let her friend know. By the time she got out the door her friend told her she ran out of time and had to board her plane. The mom came back in the house and tears started rolling down her face. As her son was saying an evening prayer with the family he said thank you for allowing them to finish everything they needed to get done that day. She then realized he was right. Even though this mom had waited for a long time to see her friend she was going to get that chance again somewhere down the road. She needed to be thankful that she accomplished all of the important things and without her realizing it made a difference for a lot of people.

It is amazing what a difference a little bit of extra time can do. The video was not a message about waiting but I think it can work just as well.

Five Minute Friday: Share

This weeks word is share.

GO

I laughed so hard when I saw the word for this weeks post. My daughter got a Sesame Street video game for Christmas. One of the episodes in the game is about sharing. Since she likes that episode the best I have had the song stuck in my had all day. I would say that sharing was one of the hardest lessons to teach my daughter. When she was little it was just me and her and when she started playing with other children she didn't want them anywhere near her toys. In the last six months she has definitely got better at sharing and she knows no matter what her toys will always be hers but it is nice to let her friends use them when they visit.

Five Minute Friday: Send

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is send.

GO

These days we use technology as a way to communicate with people. We send and email or a text. Maybe you even just send a Facebook message to the people you need to talk to. We have slowly faded out writing and sending letters. I know that my mom gets so excited when my daughter sends her a letter. It is mostly consisting of just drawings but it still makes my moms day. Sometimes it is nice to get back to when electronics were not as advanced and write someone a personal letter and send it. I am sure it will make them smile.

END

I challenge you to write someone a letter this week. Who knows maybe they will write back to you.
Leave your five minute thoughts on the word send in the comments.

Five Minute Friday: Welcome

Five Minute Friday is back! My mind is drawing a bit of a blank this morning with me being quite distracted. The first word for 2015 is: welcome.

Go

This year has already started to fly by. I have wanted to welcome everyday with a smile and a positive attitude. Sometimes it is not that easy. I have been trying to be strong and I think today is the day I break down. Today my world is thrown up in the air and I put it in Gods hands, all I can do is hope for the best. So I guess for now I will just welcome all the things that come my way this year with an open mind.

Puzzels

Five Minute Friday is on vacation until next week so today I wanted to share a random story with you all. My family has a tradition of doing a puzzle each year between Christmas and New Years Day. My goal is to always finish it by January 1st. This year my aunt gave me a 1000 piece puzzle for Christmas, so it was perfect. I finished the puzzle this morning. Since day one of working on the puzzle there were two pieces we weren't sure went anywhere. Come to find out the puzzle was packaged with three sets of double pieces. In return it was missing three edge pieces. Over all it was very fun to put together.

Here is the final product:

Do you like doing puzzles or mind games? What is some of your favorites?

Five Minute Friday: Long

The Five Minute Friday word this week is: long.

GO
Long distance relationships are hard. Even if the relationship is not romantic but a friendship. My best friend lives about 5 hours away. Even though that isn't extremely far it is far enough where we don't get to see each other as much anymore. Before she moved we easily saw each other every other week if not more. We usually talk on the phone at least every other day. However this week we have not talked at all. Both of us have become busy and it can get challenging.  I miss her very much! Don't let distance get in the way of a relationship. As long as the relationship is strong enough distance doesn't change a thing. Communication is key. I look forward to the years to come as my best friend and I continue to grow in our own lives with each other as friends as well.

Five Minute Friday: Care

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is care.

GO
It is amazing how showing someone you care can change the way they act or their attitude towards certain things. Recently I have come across a situation where just showing the person that I care about what is going on in their life and caring about them as a person has made them a nicer person. It is always hard when you feel like you are going through something alone. There are so many ways you can show someone you care. Write them a note, ask them how their day went, be a shoulder to cry on, maybe even just an ear for listening. I can't tell you enough how many times I am feeling down and my best friend calls to say hi.

Show someone you care this week, you never know how much better you could make their day.

Five Minute Friday: New

Another week of taking five minutes out of my day to join the lovely people in the five minute friday community to write.

This weeks word is new.

GO
Everyday is a new day. Some days better then others. Lately my days have been on the better side and I hope they stay that way. There are many habits that I want to change but I keep telling myself tomorrow is a new day I will start then. Most of the time I don't do that though. I just continue to push it off one more day. It is a new month full of exciting events and first time things for me. A whole new world in other words. I want to develop these ne habits this month and I am going to start now.

Five Minute Friday: Because

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is because.

I have used this words more times in the last year then I have in my entire life. My daughter hit a period in her life where she asks why about everything. I quickly learned that the best way to stop the chain of why is to just say because. Because is a word used to explain why something is taking place. I can tell you that most of the time I don't really have a reason when I use the word because. I just want it to appear that way.

What does the word because make you think of?

Thank you for stopping by to read today.

Five Minute Friday: Hold

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is hold.

Go
I like to hold on to stuff. Even when I know I am not likely to ever use it again. For months I have been trying to go through my room and get rid of stuff I have held onto for years. I don't know what it is about letting go that is so hard. I have clothes in my closet that I have not worn since high school and that was five years ago. I think it must be hereditary because I can already see that trait in my daughter at the age of three. She holds on to everything. One of these days I just need to go through her room and pack some stuff away or get rid of it.

Five Minute Friday: Ready

Teaming up with Kate and the Five Minute Friday crew for another fun writing prompt. To check out more about Five Minute Fridays click the button.

 This weeks word is: ready.

GO
I am sure people are already starting to get tired of me talking about my recent engagement and the wedding we have started to plan. This is somewhat to do with it but not entirely. In the last three years I have put on close to 50 pounds. For months I have tried multiple diets and workout programs to help me lose the weight. Unfortunately I didn't sick with any of them. A couple weeks ago a program called 21 Day Fix was brought to my attention. I am hitting the end of week two and have lost two pounds. (That is with skipping many workouts and occasionally straying from the diet.) I am ready to get rid of this extra weight. What could be a better motivation then getting married. I plan on losing at least half of what I gained by the time the wedding comes around. I am ready to make the change. I am ready to stand my ground. I am ready to be a better me.

Five Minute Friday: Whisper

Here we are again for another great five minute friday post. If you want to know more about five minute friday click on the picture below.

This weeks word is whisper.

Go
I often wish the world would wiser. I was in a theater the other night full of teenagers and they were so loud. Loud enough to where I debated if I should leave or not. There are times when I wish everyone in the world would whisper. When we do little car rides to Denver the three kids in the back seat can get overwhelming. Sometimes I will turn the music up to give them a hint they are being to loud. Instead of quieting they just get louder. Whispering is something everyone should do now and again. We turn it into a game. It helps the kids still have fun but learn the advantage to not being as loud.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Tell me in the comments what whisper means to you.

Five Minute Friday: Reach

I had a crazy busy day yesterday so I apologize for the delay on this post.

This weeks word is reach. I always grew up being a shy person. One of the hardest things for me to do is reach out to others. I also grew up having more of a independent mind set which makes it hard to ask for help.  Everyone has to reach out to someone at some point in their life. I would love to improve my people skills and be out going. Any ideas on how to help me improve those skills?

I hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Please leave comments with suggestions and thoughts.

Five Minute Friday: Change

Making changes can be very difficult and scary. I am not one for change at all. I like keeping things the same. When I do decide on changes in my life they are often planned out weeks in advance and in a lot of detail. I was talking to my cousin earlier today about not liking to eat foods I have not had before. It is funny how something as small as that is affected by change. For those have read my blog for a while, you know how much I have struggled with dieting and workouts. Well this week I am changing to a new plan that seems more reasonable. I am hoping for a positive outcome.

What are ways to look at change more positively? Do you have a hard time with change too?

Five Minute Friday: Tell

This was the perfect word for this week. Earlier this week one of my favorite actors/comedians passed away due to depression and he took his own life because of it. Robin Williams will be missed I know that for sure. He was in so many of my favorite movies. Not to mention the disney movies he did voices for. He was also loved by so many people. So many people suffer from depression in this world. I can say that I have been on that path before. No where close to that level of it but a minor case. It took time and some really close friends to pull me out of it. Tell people you love them. Tell people how much you mean to them. Above all tell people how important they are. Sometimes people just forget. You would be surprised how much of a difference you can make on someone just by taking the time to smile and say hello.

Five Minute Friday: Fill

Start

We often find ourselves trying to fill the shoes of people in our life. We try to live up to expectations our parents give us. Often I find myself wandering why I never have enough time in the day. Especially when some days it seems like we do not do much. As I sit and look at my daily life I realize I spend way to much time doing things that do not improve my life. I play more video games then I should. I finally took that and turned it into something productive. People fill their life with school, work, family. When you have munchkins running around I feel as if time goes faster. Sometimes we get so caught up with the things we have to do that we forget to add in fun more often. Slowly I am learning that it can only take a little adjusting to fit everything we want to do into our schedule. There are endless possibilities that I want to add in some day.

Five Minute Friday: Begin

Last week we talked about the word finish and how scary it can be when the end is around the corner. Beginnings can be tough though. It is pretty nerve-racking. Just like when you start a new book, you get used to something and then when you start something new you have to get used to the new routine. Beginning something an open so many doors depending on the situation. Always continue onto the new chapter in your life. Sometimes that first step is the hardest to take but most always worth it.

Five Minute Friday: Finish

The word for this week is finish. When I first read Lisa-Jo Baker's post on finishing it made me think about what in my life I have finished that actually was a big deal. Unfortunately I couldn't think of much. I am still young and still working on a lot of my goals that have been started. I finished high school by the tip of my chair. That is probably my biggest accomplishment so far. This week I want to be able to finish two project that I started weeks ago. My health is finally starting to be normal so I am hoping to at least start getting back on track. It is very easy to see that there is a finish line. I think sometimes we feel like the finish line gets further and further away. Maybe we are trying to keep ourselves from it. I feel like it is so difficult to get motivated to start something sometimes. But when you are so passionate about something it can certainly be hard to just let it go and have it be the end... There are always more doors to be opened after you close one. Sometimes it can just take a little while.

Do you think it is harder to start or finish?

I want to take a moment to reflect on how and why five minute friday posts where started. Now I have only been participating in since the end of March. It is amazing how supportive and friendly this community of people are. I have looked forward to every friday since I started and look forward to what is to come. Lisa-Jo Baker was the originator of Five Minute Fridays. She started it four years ago. With today's word she announced that next week will be her last post and is passing the baton over to Kate Motaung. It was a very heartfelt post. Click here if you wish to read her post. I thank you for the time I was able to join you on your weekly posts.
